The Knights of Columbus (Knights) have been active in the Diocese of Honolulu since 1959 when the Rev. LaSalle E. Lenk, O.F.M., with the permission of Bishop James J. Sweeney, and a change in Hawaiian Law, established the First Council, Our Lady of Peace Council 5000.
Since then, the membership in the Hawaii Jurisdiction of the Knights has increased to over 2000.
The Founder of the Knights, Father Michael J. McGivney, was beatified on October 31, 2020, by the Holy Father Pope Francis.
The Pope’s Apostolic Letter stated that Blessed Michael McGivney’s “zeal for the proclamation of the Gospel and generous concern for the needs of his brothers and sisters made him an outstanding witness of Christian solidarity and fraternal assistance”.
All Knights, their families, and folks looking for an additional intercessor to Jesus, can play a role in the Guild, which is assisting in furthering the Cause for Canonization, by joining the Guild. It is Free and Easy!

PRAYER FOR THE CANONIZATION OF BLESSED MICHAEL J. MCGIVNEY
God, our Father, protector of the poor and defender of the widow and orphan, you called your priest, Blessed Michael McGivney, to be an apostle of Christian family life and to lead the young to the generous service of their neighbor. Through the example of his life and virtue, may we follow your Son, Jesus Christ, more closely, fulfilling his commandment of charity and building up his Body which is the Church. Let the inspiration of your servant prompt us to greater confidence in your love so that we may continue his work of caring for the needy and the outcast. We humbly ask that you glorify Blessed Michael McGivney on earth according to the design of your holy will. Through his intercession, grant the favor I now present (here make your request). Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
