We recruited some new members, now what?
According with Fr. McGivney’s vision, every family should have protection against hard times. So, it is our obligation as members to make sure that all families of our councils are protected.
Do I have to purchase Insurance to become a member?
No, unlike many fraternal organizations one does not become a member by purchasing insurance.
In the Knights of Columbus a man has to be a member before he may avail himself of the insurance benefit. Purchasing insurance is optional, however the life insurance and long-term care insurance products offered by the Order are not only competitively priced, they are among the most solid and highly rated products available anywhere.
Standard & Poor's and A.M. Best, the leading independent agencies that rate insurance companies, give K of C insurance their highest ratings. Best part is they follow our Catholic Faith!
Although is not required to buy insurance with the Knights of Columbus, it is highly recommended that all members should be “insured” members for the following reasons:
1. Widow continues to be covered under the Member/Spouse Fraternal Benefit including our FREE accidental life insurance;
2. May purchase life, long-term care or disability insurance and/or annuities;
3. A FREE lifetime subscription to Columbia;
4. ELIGIBLE with her children for scholarships, student loans, etc.
So, if someone is to ask you, "What is the difference of an Insured Member and an Associate Member?"
You should know that Insured Members will leave more options available to their spouses in case of that members death. This could make a huge difference, because as an associate member, should you pass away prior to your wife, she will be unable to take advantages of our benefits.
Vivat Jesus!
